Flavor Profile:  the flavor of fresh jalapenos as bright, vegetable and very green, with a slight level of heat.  Tastes like a Serrano pepper but with less heat.

 

Description:  Jalapeño peppers are a thick-walled medium sized pepper. Most are 2-3 inches long, but some jalapeños are as long as 6 inches. Usually harvested when green, but ripens to red.

 

Best uses:  Salsa, anything a little heat is needed.

 

TIme till harvest:  5 to 6 months.

 

Soil & Planting requirements:  Full sun, Jalapeño pepper plants do best in well-balanced, loamy potting soil with a pH between 6.0 to 7.0.  Plant 12 to 18 inches apart.

 

Best time to plant:  early spring.

 

Plant height & width:  24 to 30 inches tall and 16 to 18 inches wide.
